The Government of Liberia established the National Drug Service currently the Central Medical Stores (CMS) for the purpose of Procurement, Storage and Distribution, this entity which facilitates the provision of drugs and other medical supplies to all Public Health Facilities. The NDS now CMS was incorporated under the Liberian Law as a non-for-profit organization in 1992. This move was made to make the Entity more attractive for continuous support from donors. The None for Profit was dissolved in 2015 and the entity currently functions as the Health Product storage and distribution arm of the Ministry of Health.
The Central Medical Stores (CMS), formerly national drug service (NDS) is primarily responsible for the storing and uninterrupted public medical supply chain in Liberia.
